Bidding opens 7/30/03at 1:00PM EST at Alta Genetics. Register and bid on any lot. There will be starting bids on all lots.

The Holstein World Century Celebration Sale will allow bidders from around the world to bid, using the Online Auction program provided by ALTA Genetics. This sale is a tremendous offering of the best genetics of the breed. The complete catalog is part of the July issue of Holstein World and it can currently be viewed online at http://www.holsteinworld.com/Centennial/celebration.htm

Following are the details on how the ONLINE bidding will work:

• All bids must be increased by a minimum of $100
  .
• ONLINE sale starts at 1:00PM EST Wednesday, July 30, ONLINE bidding will end at 4:00PM EST on Wednesday, August 6.
  
• Live Sale starts at 6:00PM EST on August 6^th.
  
• All lots will be offered ONLINE, in the event of live animals, ONLINE bidders are encouraged to contact ONSITE sale personnel to have animals examined. All sales are final and settlement is expected to be made promptly.
  
• Go to any one of the following sites: www.holsteinworld.com , www.holsteincentral.com , www.cattlexchange.com , www.burton-fellers.com  and follow links to the ONLINE auction program that is running on Alta Genetics Server
  
• All bidders will have to register with all contact information. Your user name will be your e-mail address and you will select a password. This will allow you to bid on any consignment. You will have to sign in to bid.
  
• Visitors will be able to check consignment prices without registering or signing in.
  
• There is a listing of each consignment with the current prices and a link to the bidding page. The bidding page will have limited information and a link to the full catalog that is online in PDF Format.
  
• ONLINE bidders will have the opportunity to submit “Reserve” or Maximum bids. The ONLINE sale ends at 4:00PM EST  on Wednesday August 6^th. No further ONLINE bids will be able to be entered.
  
• CLOSE-OUT: At 4:00PM EST on August 6^th, the list of current bids ONLINE will be printed out and submitted to the ONSITE Sale bidders. When each lot is in the ring, the bidding will start at the final ONLINE bid. ONSITE bids will be submitted at the Live Sale by Holstein Central. This may occur during the bidding, but absolutely at the end of the ONSITE Bidding on each lot. The server will automatically kick back a higher bid if the ONLINE Maximum bid exceeds the ONSITE bid. If there is a higher bid ONLINE then the ONSITE bidder will have the opportunity to raise his bid and this Bid-Off will continue until the final price is reached.  Holstein Central will not have access to the Maximum bids ONLINE at all. All bidders should feel secure in knowing this. In the event of a computer malfunction or Internet Connection lost, Alta Genetics personnel will be contacted via phone and they will submit the ONSITE bids in the same procedure as above.
   
• ONLINE bidders have the option of submitting 1 Maximum bid or visiting frequently to place higher bids. The Maximum bid is the safest way to insure your success, your Maximum bid is secure with nobody having access to it other than the Alta Genetics auction program personnel.
  
• Minimum bid allowed both ONLINE and ONSITE is $100, if the ONSITE bid exceeds the ONLINE bid, the Auctioneer will be notified and at that time, he may accept smaller bids.

   Following are a couple of examples of how the auction will be handled.

     Example 1:

•  LOT 10: Final ONLINE Bid is $4000
• LIVE Sale starts, bids open at $4000
• Live Sale final bid is $5000
• The $5000 bid is entered and the ONLINE bid comes back at $5100
• ONSITE bidder bids $5200, this bid is entered and the ONLINE bid comes back at $5300.
•  The ONSITE bidder bids $5400, that bid is entered and the Auction program replies that this is the NEW BID, and so the ONSITE bidder wins.

Example 2:

• LOT 15: Final ONLINE Bid is $5000
• LIVE Sale starts, bids open at $5000
•  No other bids are heard, the ONLINE bid wins at $5000.

   Example 3:

• LOT 20: Final ONLINE Bid is $3000
•  LIVE Sale starts, bids open at $3000
• ONSITE final bid is $7000
• The $7000 bid is entered and the ONLINE bid comes back at $7100
• No further ONSITE Bids are heard, the ONLINE bidder wins the bid at $7100

 

• The sale will be able to be followed ONLINE with final prices being ONLINE as the sale proceeds. No bids will be able to be entered at this time. ONSITE bidders will be identified as ONSITE during the Sale. A final listing of buyers is expected to be listed shortly following the Sale.
